Description: Extracellular proteases mediate the digestion of neighboring extracellular matrix components in initial tumor growth, allow desquamation of tumor cells into the surrounding environment, provide the basis for invasion of basement membranes in targeted metastatic organs and are required for release and activation of many growth and angiogenic factors. TMPRSS5 (transmembrane protease, serine 5), also known as spinesin, is a 457 amino acid single-pass type II membrane protein that is expressed specifically in brain and is thought to play a role in hearing. A member of the peptidase S1 family, TMPRSS5 contains one peptidase S1 domain and an SRCR domain, and is encoded by a gene that maps to human chromosome 11q23.2. Defects in the gene encoding TMPRSS5 are associated with deafness.

Description: The cytochrome P450 proteins (CYPs) are monooxygenases that catalyse many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids, and other lipids. P450 enzymes are classified into subfamilies based on their sequence similarities. CYP26A1 is a major retinoic acid catabolic enzyme. CYP26A1 plays an important role in protecting tailbud tissues from inappropriate exposure to retinoic acid. CYP26A1 transcription is epigenetically regulated by nuclear retinoic acid receptor 2. Mutations in the gene encoding for CYP26A1 are associated with caudal agenesis and spina bifida, imperforate anus, agenesis of the caudal portions of the digestive and urogenital tracts, and malformed lumbosacral skeletal elements. CYP26A1 is upregulated in adenomatous polyposis coli mouse adenomas, human FAP adenomas, human sporadic colon carcinomas, and in the intestine of adenomatous polyposis coli (apcmcr) mutant zebrafish embryos.

Catalog Number: (BOSSBS-1383R-CY7)
Supplier: Bioss
Description: Broad specificity aminopeptidase. Plays a role in the final digestion of peptides generated from hydrolysis of proteins by gastric and pancreatic proteases. May play a critical role in the pathogenesis of cholesterol gallstone disease. May be involved in the metabolism of regulatory peptides of diverse cell types, responsible for the processing of peptide hormones, such as angiotensin III and IV, neuropeptides, and chemokines. Found to cleave antigen peptides bound to major histocompatibility complex class II molecules of presenting cells and to degrade neurotransmitters at synaptic junctions. Is also implicated as a regulator of IL-8 bioavailability in the endometrium, and therefore may contribute to the regulation of angiogenesis. Is used as a marker for acute myeloid leukemia and plays a role in tumor invasion. In case of human coronavirus 229E (HCoV-229E) infection, serves as receptor for HCoV-229E spike glycoprotein. Mediates as well human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) infection.

Description: The family of guanylin regulatory peptides, including guanylin and uroguanylin, are strongly expressed in intestinal mucosa and regulate intestinal fluid secretion during digestion. Guanylins are also involved in acid neutralization and the regulation of membrane-bound guanylate cyclase Signalling molecules. Guanylin and uroguanylin are secreted primarily in the stomach, intestine, and colon. Guanylin is also detected in plasma. Guanylin is an endogenous activator of intestinal guanylate cyclase. It stimulates intestinal guanylate cyclase through the same receptor binding region as the heat-stable enterotoxins. Gut enterochromaffin cells synthesize guanylin to be a prohormone of 115 amino acids which is then is processed to the molecular form of 94 amino acids. This 10 kDa form is found circulating in the blood.

Description: Gliadin is a glycoprotein that, along with glutenin, plays a role in the formation of gluten, an ergastic amorphous mixture of proteins found in wheat, rye, and barley. Gluten is responsible for the elasticity of kneaded dough, which allows it to be leavened. Gliadin is approximately 60% soluble in ethanol and contains only intramolecule disulfide links. Gliadin is also found in a variety of foods as well as in beer, along with the glycoprotein Hordein. Induction of zonulin release in intestinal epithelial cells is triggered by Gliadin. This causes an activation of the zonulin pathway by PKC mediated cytoskeleton reorganization and tight junction opening leads to a rapid increase in intestinal permeability to macromolecules. Individuals with disorders such as celiac disease or Crohn's disease are sensitive to Gliadin since they lack the enzyme necessary for its digestion and can not tolerate it in their diet.

Description: Cysteine-rich secretory proteins (CRISPs) represent a family of evolutionarily conserved proteins which play a role in the innate immune system and are transcriptionally regulated by androgens in several tissues. CRISP-8 (Cysteine-rich secretory protein 8), also known as PI15 (Peptidase inhibitor 15), P25TI or SugarCrisp, is a 258 amino acid secreted protein that belongs to the CRISP family. Expressed at low levels in thyroid, prostate, salivary and mammary tissue, CRISP-8 functions as a serine protease inhibitor that exhibits weak inhibitory action against Trypsin, a serine protease found in the digestive system. In addition to its role as a protease inhibitor, CRISP-8 is secreted in neuroblastoma and glioblastoma cell lines, suggesting a role for CRISP-8 in tumor formation and metastasis within the central nervous system.

Supplier: Biotium
Description: Recognizes a cell surface glycoprotein of 80-95 kDa (CD44) on lymphocytes, monocytes, and granulocytes (Leucocyte Typing Workshop V). Its epitope is resistant to digestion by trypsin and chymotrypsin. This MAb selectively interferes with lymphocyte binding to lymph node, mucosal and synovial endothelium. The CD44 family of glycoproteins exists in a number of variant isoforms, the most common being the standard 85-95 kDa or hematopoietic variant (CD44s). Higher molecular weight isoforms are described in epithelial cells (CD44v), which are believed to function in intercellular adhesion and stromal binding. CD44 immunostaining is commonly used for the discrimination of urothelial transitional cell carcinoma in-situ from non-neoplastic changes in the urothelium.
