Supplier: SIGMA ALDRICH MICROSCOPY
Description: Solvent Green 3, also known as Quinizarine Green SS (CI 61565) is an anthraquinone derivative. It is a green dye that imparts its colour to materials. Solvent Green 3 is made by condensing either leucoquinizarin or a mixture of leucoquinizarin and quinizarin with two moles of p-toluidine in the presence of boric acid.

Supplier: Bioss
Description: The steroid receptor superfamily acts through direct association with DNA sequences known as hormone response elements (HREs) and binds DNA as either homo- or heterodimers. The promiscuous mediator of heterodimerization, RXR, is the receptor for 9-cis retinoic acid, and dimerizes with VDR, TR, PPAR, and several novel receptors including LXR (also referred to as RLD-1) and FXR. FXR and LXR fall into a category of proteins termed orphan receptors? because of their lack of a defined function, and in the case of LXR, the lack of a defined ligand. FXR has been shown to bind a class of lipid molecules called farnesoids. LXR/RXR heterodimers have highest affinity for DR-4 DNA elements while FXR/RXR heterodimers bind IR-1 elements. Both LXR/RXR and FXR/RXR heterodimers retain their responsiveness to 9-cis retinoic acid.

Description: CAS No.: 632-69-9
Supplier: SIGMA ALDRICH MICROSCOPY
Description: Eosin Y is a xanthene dye and is used for the differential staining of connective tissue and cytoplasm. In histopathology, it is applied as a counterstain after hematoxylin and before methylene blue. It is also used as a background stain, thereby giving contrast to the nuclear stains.

Supplier: SIGMA ALDRICH MICROSCOPY
Description: Acridine orange is a metachromatic dye which can stain DNA, RNA and acid glycosaminoglycans. At low concentrations, it intercalates into DNA and precipitates RNA. However, at high concentrations it denatures and precipitates both RNA and DNA. Acridine orange is also used to analyse autophagy. It enters into acidic organelles in a pH-dependent manner. At neutral pH, acridine orange gives a green fluorescence and in acidic conditions, it accumulates in acidic organelles giving a bright red fluorescence.

Description: This gene encodes a member of the lipoxygenase gene family and plays a dual role in the synthesis of leukotrienes from arachidonic acid. The encoded protein, which is expressed specifically in bone marrow-derived cells, catalyzes the conversion of arachidonic acid to 5(S)-hydroperoxy-6-trans-8,11,14-cis-eicosatetraenoic acid, and further to the allylic epoxide 5(S)-trans-7,9-trans-11,14-cis-eicosatetrenoic acid (leukotriene A4). Leukotrienes are important mediators of a number of inflammatory and allergic conditions. Mutations in the promoter region of this gene lead to a diminished response to antileukotriene drugs used in the treatment of asthma and may also be associated with atherosclerosis and several cancers. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been observed, but their full-length nature has not been determined.
